Comparison

Have you been compared with one or many others whom you know?

Are you hurt by these comparison? Is your renumeration package and work reviews done in comparison with others?

It is human nature to compare and be compared. We unconsciously carry out this process to the detriment of many others and to ourselves.

How could we be inhumane to ourselves?

At home we are compared with our siblings, ancestors, decendents and relatives.

In school we are compared with our peers, seniors, juniors or between schools and school from different countries. And, at the end of the comparison, we are graded.

When we start to work, we thought this would leave us, since our comparison no longer comes with a grade! But, we are not spared. We are compared. We are ranked. The most ridiculous thing is we are ranked with colleauges within the same salary grade who are individually different from us and who do different things and have different job expertise.

Are we insane to play such renumeration game? We fought wars to survive, to catch up with inflation, to live comfortably, to support our longer life.

Why can't we be compensated based on what we did best, in absolute terms assessing our present and not comparing our past with another? We live a life to gain wisdom. We must be compensated for job well done and not performance relative to someone else. We should be paid for our acheivements and not subordinate ourselves in relation to whoever.

It is our lives that we live. We must be fair with ourselves and stop dissolving ourselves amongst others.
